Aircraft grade aluminium is an ultra-high-strength deformed aluminum alloy, which is currently widely used in the aviation industry. It is of light weight, having replaced steel and occupied the leading position of current aviation materials. Aviation equipment has high requirements for aluminum, which is an important high-end application market for aluminum alloy.
1. The aircraft aluminum sheet metal is of light weight,contributing to the lightweight of airplane and thus helping to save energy consumption.
2. Airplane grade aluminum is of good mechanical and processing performance, good plasticity after solution treatment, and good heat treatment strengthening effect.
3. Generally, it has high strength and good toughness below 150°C (or even higher), making it an ideal structural material.
There are many kinds of aluminum plates used on airplanes. Today’s airplane aluminum sheet mainly includes 2 series (2024, 2017, 2A12, etc.) and 7 series((7075, 7475, 7050, 7A04, etc.), and some 5 series (5A06, 5052 , 5086, etc.) and 6 series (6061, 6082, etc.) and a small amount of other series of aluminum.
They are widely used in wing panels, fuselage skins,upper and lower edge bars of wing spars,fuselage girders, seat slides, keel beams, side frames,etc.
Al-Mg-Cu alloy: The typical ones are 2A12, 2017A, 2024 aluminum plate,etc. They are of high strength, fatigue resistance and good plasticity to make skins, bulkheads, wing ribs, etc.
Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy: The typical ones are 7075, 7A09 and 7050. They feature high strength, high yield strength and large load,which is used to make the upper wing ski and beams.
Al-Mg alloy: The common ones are 5A02, 5A06 and 5B05. It has high corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, good plasticity and weldability, which is used to make fuel tank, oil pipes, etc.
Forged aluminum plate: The typical one is 6A02, having high hardness and good corrosion resistance. It can be used to make engine parts, joints, etc.
