There are two sources of billets for air conditioner foil: one semi-continuous ingot casting; the other is hot rolling and continuous casting rolling.
The difference between the quality of the billet produced by the hot rolling method and the cast rolling method is mainly the difference in grain size, texture, physical deformation, and the mechanical properties. These can be obtained by adjusting the chemical composition and process parameters.
Therefore, in the process of melting and casting, it is necessary to strictly follow:
1. The proper control of alloy composition (especially trace elements).
2. The strict control of the proportion of ingredients to reduce smelting pollution.
3. Fully carry out refining, filtration, degassing, slag removal, and ensure melt quality.
4. Adopt reasonable casting process and grain refining measures.
As a big aluminium foil producer, Haomei Aluminum uses large reduction ratio rolling to ensure a fine and highly dispersed structure of aluminum foil for air conditioner after annealing, and then continue rolling process after trimming. The rolled aluminum foil will then be sent for annealing. There is no intermediate annealing process.
There are some producers who try to add intermediate annealing for eliminating the anisotropy in the product, but it will reduce the aluminum foils’ properties such as the tensile strength, elongation and Erichsen value, which can not meet the performance requirements of the air conditioner aluminum foil.
