The chemical composition of aluminum foil is 92 and 99 percent aluminum. Different alloys has other trace alloying elements like magnesium,manganese, copper, etc. As for its physical properties, aluminum foil is a kind of soft metal film.
What are the advantages of aluminum foil properties? Aluminum foil has shiny metallic luster and strong decoration. It is non-toxic, odorless and of light weight which is only one third of copper and iron under the same volume. Besides, it is of good elongation and light-shielding,reflectance up to 95%.
Aluminum foil is of strong protection, making the package difficult to be attacked by bacteria, fungi and insects. It also has stable state at high and low temperature, which it does not expand or shrink at -73 to 371 ℃.
It has excellent barrier properties, moisture resistance, air tightness, and fragrance retention, which can prevent moisture absorption, oxidation, and volatilization of the packaging contents. Aluminum foil is easy to process and can be compounded with various plastic films and paper.
The properties of aluminum foils also bring some troubles. Aluminum foil is of low strength and easy to tear, which cannot be used alone for packaging products. It is easy to break when folded, produces perforations, and is not resistant to acid and alkali. So when you use aluminum foil to cook food, don't add lemon, vinegar,bechamel these raw materials.
