Choosing a right filler metal depending on the weld characteristics required by the applications.
Don’t weave. Instead, use a stringer bead, which helps ensure proper penetration and fusion.
Clean the metal. This helps get the best result and reduce chances of porosity.
Remove the oxide layer.
Storage practices for base materials and filler metals also play a role in preventing porosity.
Pay attention to temperature. The appropriate preheating and interpass temperature helps reduce thermal effects.
