The Properties of 5052 H32 and H34 Aluminum Sheet

5052 aluminum sheet is Al-Mg aluminum alloy. Because of its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance, it also belongs to well known marine grade aluminium sheet. The two main tempers are H32 and H34.

The “H3” portion of “H32” temper designates that the material is strain hardened (cold worked) and stabilized, while the “2” designates its quarter-hard temper and “4” stands for half-hard temper.

Machining

Machinability of the softer tempers O and H32 is poor, with the harder tempers such as H34 being somewhat easier to machine.

Heat Treatment

Aluminum alloy 5052 is not hardened by heat treatment. H3x tempers are achieved by a stabilisation thermal treatment, either a low temperature thermal treatment or as a result of heat introduced during rolling.

Typical Uses of 5052 H34 Aluminum Sheet and H32
