What’s Cold-formed Pharmaceutical Packaging
The covering material of the aluminum-plastic blister packaging of medicines is generally aluminum foil, that is PTP aluminum foil. The blister substrate is generally made of PVC sheet.
However, with the continuous development of the pharmaceutical industry, this traditional packaging method has exposed its shortcomings: due to the limited barrier properties of PVC rigid sheets, it is difficult to ensure that the quality of the drugs will not change during their service life.
In response to the limited barrier properties of ordinary blister packaging, people have developed cold-formed rigid sheets, replacing the original vacuum blister forming of ordinary blister packaging, so that the blister packaging sheet can use pure aluminum composite material as the blister forming material.
Cold-stamping aluminum packaging overcomes the shortcomings of conventional medicinal PVC hard film and PP hard film in terms of moisture resistance, gas barrier, light protection, and thermal stability. It is a kind of excellent insulation for various gases and blocking light radiation.
This pharmaceutical packaging can effectively extend the shelf life of medicines and can be used as medicine packaging in extreme (high/low temperature) environments. The Cold-formed pharmaceutical packaging structure: biaxially oriented nylon film BOPA, outer printing layer, aluminum foil substrate, polyvinyl chloride PVC, inner printing layer, adhesive (VC), etc.
The often used aluminum foil alloys in this packaging are 8021-O and 8079-O aluminum foil. The thickness is 0.025-0.08mm.
