Thermal CTP plate is widely used in printing industry. That is owed to its superior performances. It has a low sensitivity to natural light and is exposed by infrared laser light, so it can be operated in bright room conditions.
In addition, to generate images, the initial thermal energy threshold of CTP printing plates must be reached. Thermal energy above the initial threshold will not change the dot shape. It is the only technology that can control the predicted results. The quality is easy to control, so the publishing quality is stable.
The printing plate can be extended to 6 months before development, and it will not affect the quality of the plate at all. Besides, it has outstanding printing resistance, dot reproduction and high resolution.
There are two main types of thermal CTP plates: positive and negative plates. Positive thermal CTP plate is made of aluminum base, multi-grain layer, hydrophilic layer and thermal sensitive coating with IR absorber. Marco-molecules are formed by cross-linked micro-molecules during the oven drying procedure of CTP plate production.
The imaging principle is through infrared exposure. During exposure, the light-to-heat conversion substance converts the light energy of the infrared laser into thermal energy, causing some of the polymers in the photosensitive layer to undergo thermal cross-linking reactions to form a latent image.
Negative thermal CTP plate is made of aluminum substrate, ultra fine grain layer, hydrophilic micro-cell layer, infrared laser sensitive phase change layer and block oxygen layer. The imaging principle is being exposed using a semiconductor laser diode.
